About Barb

Age: 45
Birthday: 1.29.63
Where I grew up: Bar Harbor, Maine
Number of Siblings: 2 brothers
What I like to do when I’m not in church: Spend time with family and friends, read, take walks in the woods, snowshoe, kayak, breath deeply in prayer and meditation, eat chocolate, and drink coffee. Sometimes I even remember to exercise.

Some Favorites of Mine
Book: Their Eyes Were Watching God, Zora Neale Hurston (and lots of others)
Movie: Out of Africa & Elf
Food: Scallops, cheese, artichokes & chocolate again
Quote: All shall be well; and all shall be well; and all manner of things shall be well – Mother Julian of Norwich
Song: I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack
Word: Peace
Class in school: The Roots of Liturgy with Aiden Kavanaugh, The Interior Life, Applied Statistics

What I enjoyed most about my childhood: The ocean. Spending summers on Lovejoy Pond in Kents Hill, Maine. My crazy funny brothers telling jokes on the dock at night while we watched the stars above reflected in the water below

What I enjoyed least about my childhood: My older brother leaving home for college and learning about what the draft meant for my family and others.

My greatest hope is: that I will always hope for the human race, God, and the earth

My greatest fear is: Hopelessness

Something most people don’t know about me is: My father and brother are Episcopal priests and I graduated from Yale Divinity School in 1988

What St. John’s means to me: St. John’s means love and belonging. It is also a place where I am renewed in faith and challenged to live into my baptismal vows more completely.
