Weekly Announcements for May 25th

Bicentennial:
On Sunday, June 1, 2008, come celebrate the Bicentennial of the first worship service conducted in our beloved sanctuary. We will be offering two services that day. The first will be a historical 8am service. The second will be a 4pm Rite II with confirmations with a reception following in Thaxter Hall. All ages are welcome!! There will be childcare available from 3:30-6:00pm

Holly Hill Fair:
Get Involved! You are cordially invited to attend the first meeting of the Holly Hill Fair Committee, Tuesday, May 27 at 6:30pm upstairs in Thaxter Hall. If you have any interest in the fair, please don’t miss this fun meeting!

Parish Life Committee:
Have you been looking for ways to get involved in the incredibly busy life of St. John’s? On Monday, June 16 at 7pm in the Philbrick Room, we will be discussing the calendar of events that makes us such a vibrant community. Suzi Raeside will talk about past events (i.e. Shrove Tuesday, Maundy Thursday supper, Parish Picnic, etc.), and The Rev. Rob Stevens will talk about where we might want to go. The committee will be project-oriented and may provide you with the opportunity to put your own stamp on a part of St. John’s traditions. For more information, please call Suzi at 207-439-3133.

Stewardship of the Earth:
“You and I are meant to be partners in God’s glorious creative work. How are you going to be green and hel this planet and give glory to God? - The Most Reverend Katrhyn Jefferts Schori

Plant a tree! Help the environment and St. John’s! This will be the last week to purchase trees (8-12”, planting instructions incl.). Consider doing it in honor of a family member or friend. You can also find out from your town where they might want a tree planted. At $2, it’s a great bargain!
Did you mark June 22 (rain or shine) on your calendar for our bike/walk/carpool to church Sunday? Get friends or family to join you and make this a fun event. In case it rains, decide ahead of time who you will carpool with that day. Let’s help stop pollution and reduce the number of cars on our roads.

Youth Group:
June 7th...The Most Awesome Sleepover Ever!
More info later to come in the mail.
