St. John's Fall Tour

St. John’s is hosting a New England Fall Tour
and you are invited to participate!

A New England Fall Tour is being planned for the weekend of Oct. 16-19, 2008. Since this is a fundraiser for the church, adult guests from across the country will be invited through the Episcopallife magazine and our church website to attend a fun filled and leaf peeping weekend. The parish will be invited to participate in several ways (as noted below).

Here’s How You Can Get Involved!

Be a Host Family 20 host families are needed to house 2 guests and provide breakfast during the weekend.

Thursday night potluck Casseroles, salads and desserts are needed for 80 people.

Lobsterfest volunteers who can prepare food, setup, serve, and cleanup. Some transportation needs may be offered.

Thursday, the 16th – an historical tour of St. Johns, a pot luck supper in the parish hall and a chance to meet host families who will provide bed and breakfast for the weekend.

Friday, the 17th - Carole Renselaer will provide a narrative coach tour of Portsmouth and the area. In the afternoon, guests are free to choose (on their own), one of the many fine restaurants. After lunch, guests will receive passes to tour three historical homes in Portsmouth, followed by a tea at the Athenaeum hosted by Louise Dennett. Friday evening’s meal is included in the cost and will be dinner at Roberts’ Maine Grill which is near the Kittery malls.

Saturday, the 18th - is a free day to choose from a number of options whether it be to enjoy the fall foliage, shopping or choosing from a number of suggested places of interest such as Strawbery Banke. Host families might want to serve as tour guides. The evening meal will be a Lobsterfest in the parish hall which adult host families are invited to attend as guests. (An optional meal will be offered for non lobster eaters!)

Sunday, the 19th - Guests are invited to attend church & meet parishioners at coffee hour.

Interested guests will receive a brochure/application form and pay $400.each for the weekend. They are responsible for their transportation to Portsmouth.
