Trust

Trust is the foundation of any relationship.

It means confidence in that person, knowing that person is looking out for my best.

The opposite of trust is suspicion. When someone asks:

“What are they getting out of this?” Or “What is in it for them?”

One establishes trust when:

Words and deeds are congruent
Follow through on commitments exists
Mistakes are admitted to
Communication is clear and concise

Ask yourself the following to determine how trusting and transparent you are:

Am I honest with myself and how I live my life?
Is my character solid?
Do I follow through on my commitments?
Does “yes “means “yes “ and “no” means “no”?
Do I own up to my mistakes?

Trust cannot be compartmentalized ( meaning you cannot go to worship every week) and then bad mouth your neighbor/friend. You must maintain solid character at all times.

If you think about Jesus’s actions on earth, he maintained his integrity by doing the above. As a result we trust in him and recognize that he has our best interests in mind. Now it is our mission to follow in his footsteps and do the same.
