Poetry On the Hill
The Word is: nature

Join facilitator and St. John’s parishioner Sam DeFlitch for this inaugural presentation of Poetry On The Hill, a new series here at St. John’s.

We will welcome Portland-based poet and author Mike Bove to beautiful Roberts Hall where he will read excerpts from his latest poetry collection, centering themes around Nature and Creation Care as we join together in commemorating Earth Day this same day.

In addition to light refreshments, attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a small writing workshop experience led by Mike Bove. Attendees will be invited to bring an object of their own*, and consider it from several perspectives, and to write about it. The invitation to share out with the group will be provided, and sharing is welcome but not required!

*Attendees are invited to bring in a photo or an object from nature, and an assortment of items will be provided as well.

Outline for the evening:
Gathering, introduction, and reading
Brief pause for light refreshments, mingling, books may be available for purchase
Workshop, time for writing, an invitation to share out with the group
Wrap-up, there may be an opportunity to purchase books

This event is free and open to the public, with donations kindly accepted to continue seeding the opportunity for St. John’s to offer this enriching programming for anyone who wishes to attend.
