What MINISTRIES WoULD YOU LIKE TO BE PART OF?
As part of our recent Mission, Vision & Values work, we asked you which areas of parish life you would most enjoy participating in or exploring in the years ahead. The response was joyful — and encouraging. Your answers revealed an extraordinary range of gifts, interests, hopes, and untapped potential within St. John’s. There’s just one small problem: the survey was anonymous, so we don’t know who raised their hand for what!
As we prepare to begin a new program year, we’d love to change that. If something on the survey sparked your interest — or if you have a gift, skill, or idea you’d like to explore — please let us know.
You don’t need to know exactly what you want to do. We’re simply gathering names and interests so we can begin connecting people with one another and with opportunities to participate in the life of St. John’s.
There is more possibility among us than we sometimes realize. Let’s see what happens when we begin connecting those possibilities with the people who make St. John’s what it is.
Vestry Member Spotlight
The Vestry is the elected lay leadership body of St. John’s, working alongside the clergy to help guide the life and ministry of the parish. Throughout the summer, The Chapel St. Chronicle will feature a different vestry member each week, giving the congregation an opportunity to get to know the people who serve in this important role through photos, stories, and a few fun facts.

Kelly Boston Marshall
Kelly is looking forward to celebrating her first wedding anniversary this September with her husband, Dick. This year was especially meaningful for their family, as her husband officially adopted her son, Jack, a milestone that celebrated the love and commitment they share as a family.
One of Kelly's favorite roles is being a proud hockey mom to their 13-year-old son, Jack, who plays goalie. Much of her free time is spent at the rink with her husband, cheering Jack on from the stands, traveling to games, and watching him grow both as an athlete and as a young man. The friendships, teamwork, and community that come with youth hockey have become an important part of their family's life.
Professionally, Kelly's career journey reflects a blend of financial expertise, leadership, and continuous learning. She began her career in Accounting and Finance, where she spent many years building her expertise before transitioning to Global Engineering seven years ago. Today, she serves as the Head of Global Engineering PMO for a global biotechnology company. While the move was a significant change, it has provided opportunities for growth, new challenges, and the chance to collaborate with people around the world.
Kelly values the opportunity to serve at church and is grateful to be part of such a welcoming faith community. After making the leap from the Catholic Church, she found a church home here 14 years ago and has been serving as Treasurer for the past 12 years. She believes that volunteering is a meaningful way to give back, build relationships, and support others while growing in her own faith journey.
Whether she's balancing a career, cheering from the hockey stands, traveling with her family to favorite destinations like Aruba, or serving in the church, Kelly is passionate about investing in the people and communities that matter most to her.
Poetry On The Hill
Join curator Sam DeFlitch on Wednesday, September 9 at 7PM for the second installment of Poetry On The Hill. This quarterly poetry series presents a featured poet reading on a specific theme, followed by a time of fellowship and light refreshments, then an opportunity to participate in a short guided poetry workshop led by our featured poet, concluding with an invitation to share out with the group.
In this next installment, we will welcome Seacoast-based poet and former Portsmouth Poet Laureate Kimberly Cloutier Green to beautiful Roberts Hall where she will present poems centered around the theme of "Breaking In, Breaking Out." This event is free and open to all, but passes are required.
25th Anniversary Concert
We invite you to join St. John’s in celebrating the 25th anniversary of the installation of our beloved Létourneau pipe organ on Friday, September 25 at 7PM. With Concerts on the Hill, we proudly present world-renowned concert organist Bruce Neswick for what promises to be a dazzling display of exceptional skill, impeccable taste, and prolific performance.
The concert will be simulcast via HD projection downstairs in the sanctuary, allowing people of all ages to delight in seeing the intricacies of organ playing on the big screen.
Before the concert, join us for a festive champagne reception as we raise a glass to the Letourneau, to the music and the people it has brought to St. John’s, and to the many years of music still to come.
Admission is free, and all are warmly welcome. An RSVP for the champagne reception is appreciated but not required and will help us plan for the evening. Throughout the evening, there will be opportunities to make a gift in celebration of this remarkable instrument and its 25 years of music-making.
