Last night I joined the community at Temple Israel for the Interfaith Hannukah Candle-lighting. Each year that I attend this event, at the Hands of Hope sculpture in the Temple Israel courtyard, I am reminded of light as a symbol of hope in many religious traditions. During the Festival of Lights (Hannukah) candles are lit to remember an important moment in the history of the Jewish people - the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem in the second century BCE. The last time we published an official update for our Building and Grounds, it was Tuesday prior to our Rite II “Homecoming Service.” It’s been almost two months since then, and the amount of change is immense. It has been neat for us to mark the time, to see how things are progressing, and we felt it was time to bring an official update to you.
