A quarterly non-religious poetry series, this evening series boasts a featured poet presenting on a specific theme, followed by a time of fellowship and light refreshments, then an opportunity to participate in a short guided poetry workshop led by our featured poet, concluding with an invitation to share out with the group.

In the same vein as our long-running Concerts On The Hill series, Poetry On The Hill seeks to add value to our community and vibrancy to our culture.

All events are free and open to the public, however passes are required. Donations always welcome.

2026-27 SEASON

Join facilitator and St. John’s parishioner Sam DeFlitch on Wednesday, September 9 at 7PM for the second presentation of Poetry On The Hill, a quarterly non-religious poetry series here at St. John’s. This event is free, however passes are required.

We will welcome Seacoast-based poet and former Portsmouth Poet Laureate Kimberly Cloutier Green to beautiful Roberts Hall where she will present poems centered around the theme of "Breaking In, Breaking Out."

In addition to light refreshments, attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a small writing workshop experience led by Kimberly. The invitation to share out with the group will be provided, and sharing is welcome but not required!

This event is free and open to the public, donations are kindly accepted.

ABOUT THE POET

Kimberly Cloutier Green is the author of The Next Hunger (2013) and Openings for Light to Pass Through (2025), published by Bauhan Publishing. A Pushcart Prize nominee, her poems have been published in several literary journals, most recently The Mid-American Review, The Maine Review, Nine Mile Magazine, and Calyx Journal. Her honors include grants and fellowships from the Maine Community Foundation, Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, MacDowell, and Hawthornden. She is a former Poet Laureate of Portsmouth, NH, and the Host-Producer of the Rice Pudding Poetry Podcast.
