WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Eager and enthusiastic music makers in 3rd through 5th grades (Elementary divisions), and 6th-8th grade (Middle grades division).

WHAT IS THE COST?

There is no financial obligation for participation, however donations are always welcome. Students are expected to be present at all scheduled rehearsals, performances, and community events.

STUDENT HANDBOOK 2023-24

WHAT ARE STUDENTS learning?

Students focus on building basic musical knowledge and applying it through performances, both during St. John’s services, and in community outreach opportunities. We are a choral-focused program, but also branch out to perform pop, folk, rock, and musical theater. Collaboration is a key ingredient in music-making and in the Choir School program. In 2023-24 we look forward to continue our rediscovery of the joy of singing together!

New this year, students in our Middle Grades division will be engaged in weekly small group vocal instruction as well as ear-training and sight-singing practice to enhance their musical knowledge. All students will have opportunities to sing with guest musicians, choral ensembles, and teachers.

HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?

Choir School is made possible because of generous support from donors and sponsors who believe a community music program for children is something that makes us all shine brighter. The ripple effect of young people who are eager to take on the world is the great hope of our future. Support our kids and community by making a donation today. (Click donate button, then select Choir School from the drop-down “fund” selection.)

She was painfully shy. Choir School has given her a voice; not only a singing voice, but the confidence to be seen and heard at all times. I am amazed!
