"We are God's Hope”

The Rt. Rev. Mark Hollingsworth, Jr.

This past Sunday, we were honored to welcome The Rt. Rev. Mark Hollingsworth, Jr. as the second preacher in our VOICES OF FAITH series: Seeing God’s Future, Living God’s Hope.

ABOUT BISHOP HOLLINGSWORTH

Bishop Hollingsworth, ordained in 1981 and serving faithfully for decades as chaplain, parish priest, diocesan leader, and the Eleventh Bishop of Ohio, brought a depth of pastoral wisdom shaped by a lifetime of ministry.

In his sermon, he invited us to see ourselves as God sees us, as bearers of hope in the world. With clarity, gentleness, and conviction, he reminded us that each of us, just as we are, is part of how God’s hope takes shape in our lives, our communities, and our future.

We are grateful for his presence among us and for the ways his preaching continues to resonate.

FROM THE DESK OF ANNE WILLIAMSON

The Boston-based organization Sacred Threads is offering an opportunity to hear from Sr. Simone Campbell, religious leader, poet, attorney and organizer of the first "Nuns on the Bus" tour, which highlighted budget cuts to critical programs in 2012.

"Compassion for the Marginalized" with Sister Simone Campbell
November 20, 12:15pm -1pm

Sr. Simone will be addressing the continuing concern for those on the margins of society and offering her inspiration for us to pray for justice, and move our feet (or get on the bus!). I hope you can join me. Click here to register.

Blessings,

Anne

A NOTE OF THANKS

On Sunday, over 160 people gathered to continue our Gratitude-a-thon at our Annual Parish dinner. A special addition to our annual feast was a surprise celebration of Rob's 20th Anniversary of service and ministry to St. John's, including this wonderful video presentation:

As with so much that happens at St. John's, this would not have been possible with countless volunteers. From preparing food, to setting up tables and chairs, to contributing pictures for the slide show, to taking out the trash. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO MADE THIS POSSIBLE.

For those who would still like to contribute to the gift purse for Rob's Sabbatical you still can by either writing a check to St. John's with "Rob's Purse" in the memo (you can put it in the offering plate or mail to the office).
