Listening for the Spirit.
Dreaming boldly together.
We’re excited to introduce the Mission, Vision, and Values (MVV) Team — a group of parishioners, clergy, and staff guiding St. John’s through a season of prayerful discernment about who we are, what we value, and where God is calling us next.
Our mission names our purpose.
Our vision paints a picture of the future we’re striving toward.
Our values are the principles that shape how we live and serve.
This work comes at a time of growth, possibility, and faithful momentum here at St. John’s. As our congregation expands in size, energy, and purpose, we’re pausing to reflect deeply so we can lead with intention, clarity, and compassion, both within our church and in response to the needs of the world around us. This process is designed to support and strengthen the passionate leadership of Rob, Aaron, and our dedicated staff, aligning our shared ministry with the values and vision that will carry us into the future.
In the months ahead, the MVV Team will offer several opportunities for your input, reflection, and engagement — inviting the whole congregation to help shape a bold and faithful foundation for the future of St. John’s.
Please hold this team in your prayers:
Co-Chairs: The Rev. Aaron Jenkyn & Robin Burdick
Team Members: Mark Andrew, Lacey Bangs, Brooke Bassett, Tom Gruen, Susan McPherson, Madeline Nossiff, Mary Proskow, The Rev. Rob Stevens, and Anna Kay Vorsteg.
A Prayer for Our Discernment
You are invited to pray this throughout the MVV process.
Gracious and living God,
you have called us together as the body of Christ—
rooted in love, shaped by your Word,
and sent into the world to be your hands and heart.
In this season of listening and discernment,
open our ears to hear your voice in one another,
our eyes to see the movement of your Spirit among us,
and our hearts to receive the wisdom you are offering.
Give us courage to name who we are,
vision to imagine who we are becoming,
and grace to walk forward together with humility and hope.
May our mission be clear,
our values be true,
and our vision reflect your dream for the world.
Unite us, O Lord,
as we seek to follow you with faith, purpose, and joy.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
