"Love Made Visible"
The Rev. Anne C. Williamson
In the words of The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., "This is the time in the year when we think of the love of God breaking forth into time out of eternity." The story of the raising of Lazarus, the event that precipitated Good Friday in John's Gospel, is love in action, love made visible. The love of Jesus for Lazarus and his sisters, the love of the community in unbinding Lazarus invite us to consider how we make love visible, how we are called to unbind and be unbound.
MUSIC
“Greater love hath no man,” John Ireland; featuring the St. John's Parish Choir, under the direction of Olin Johannessen, Associate Director of Music. Featured Communion Anthem at the 10:00am Rite II Service of Holy Eucharist on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
A PRAYER
from our Evening Lent Series Life Stories (a 40-day devotional on Madeleine L'Engle's A Circle of Quiet)
God of new life, help us take part in your resurrecting work: life in the midst of death, hope in the midst of struggle, faith in the midst of mystery. When we are struck down, let us rise. When we are captives, unbind us, and let us go. In Jesus’ name. AMEN
ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY INSTALLATION
On Wednesday, 25 March, 11AM EST the worldwide Anglican Communion will witness a historic moment as the new Archbishop of Canterbury is installed at Canterbury Cathedral. For the first time in the Church’s history, this role will be held by a woman, a milestone that reflects the continuing movement of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Church.
As Anglicans around the world mark this moment, we invite you to hold the new Archbishop in your prayers. May her ministry be guided by wisdom, courage, humility, and grace as she serves the Church and the wider world.
You can watch the installation live here
