Sermon Series
"He Saw the Crowds"
The Rev. Aaron Jenkyn
This sermon invites you to reflect on Jesus' ability to truly see the crowds before him — not as problems to be solved, but as beloved people in need of compassion. It challenges us to look beyond first impressions, remain present to one another, and allow compassion to shape the way we live. As summer begins, we are invited to move through the world with eyes open, hearts attentive, and a willingness to look a little longer.
MUSIC
"Jesus, the very thought of thee," Eric Thiman; featuring Christina DeMaio, soloist, and Jennifer McPherson Mulhern, accompanist. Featured Communion Anthem at the 9:30am service of Holy Eucharist on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
Vestry Member Spotlight
The Vestry is the elected lay leadership body of St. John’s, working alongside the clergy to help guide the life and ministry of the parish. Throughout the summer, the Chapel St. Chronicle will feature a different vestry member each week, giving the congregation an opportunity to get to know the people who serve in this important role through photos, stories, and a few fun facts.
Sarah (Sally) Murphy
I have been coming to St. John’s for over 45 years. Actually I was baptized here as an infant but grew up elsewhere. Moving back to the Seacoast naturally drew me back to St. John’s. I was married here and have been singing in the choir for over 20 years. For the past couple of years I have been facilitating the Exploring Loss/Grief group.
I am an avid downhill skier and love the ocean, standup paddle boarding and boating.
I am fortunate to have my kids and family living on the Seacoast.

This past week, Christ Church Portsmouth celebrated the groundbreaking of its long-anticipated redevelopment project in partnership with the Episcopal Church of New Hampshire, HAVEN, the Portsmouth Housing Authority, and the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire.
What began as a bold vision is now becoming reality, creating new opportunities for affordable housing, community support, and ministry in the heart of Portsmouth. We invite you to join us in praying for the people of Christ Church and all who are helping bring this transformative project to life. Click here to read the article.
