"When Tides Shift"
The Rev. Aaron B. Jenkyn

There is something about late August: summer hasn’t quite released us, and already something else is pulling us forward. Sometimes a changing season makes us aware of deeper changes in our own lives, leaving us asking not only What comes next? but Who am I now? In this week's readings, we meet Jesus and Peter at just such a turning point and wonder together what it means to keep walking with the living God when the way ahead is not yet clear.

Vestry Spotlight

Travis Downs, Member At- Large

My name is Travis Downs, I have been attending St. John's for close to 7 years with my family. My wife Lydia and I have 4 daughters Lilliana, Zinnia, Sabriel, and Winona who have all been involved in the youth and musical programs at St. John's for most of their lives.

Our family lives in Dover, and I am the Director of Dealer Sales for Formax, a Dover based office equipment manufacturer and distributor. I also serve as the Dover Middle School Girls basketball coach and volunteer in the Dover Rec Department and Journeyman basketball programs. If you can't tell, my kids and basketball are both incredibly important to me and when I am not in the office you can typically find Lydia and I at one of our daughters' games or practices.

St. John's is an important anchor for our family and for me personally. I think that it all starts with the people, and the community at St. John's. It creates an environment where people can gather, make new friends, and "take a break" from the rest of the week and find some peace amongst a community just hoping to make the world a little better.
