I am grateful that, in learning how to nourish my body, I discovered how to feed my heart’s deepest desires as well.

We are able to handle not being able to go to church, now be able to see your friends, not be able to “Pass the Peace,” not being able to hear the choir, but we will, like we have done for so many years, work our way through this, we will endure the change together, just like we have done for so many years and as long as we do it together we will come out on top.

So, to believe, I had to trust. As an adult, I have found this to be a good tenet. In fact, my favorite Bible verse talks of trust. From Proverbs 3: 5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all of your ways, acknowledge him (believe in him), and he will direct your path.

The Examen may over time bring clarity for big decisions like a career change, but it can also make us aware of ways to be more present to attend to immediate needs of our families and community now. For me, it also provides loving consolation that God is continually present in all things and that God has patience with me as I struggle to seek God’s direction.

Savasana is the final resting pose at the end of almost every yoga practice. It brings with it images and feelings of calmness, rest, and relaxation….feelings of drifting away, and sometimes even napping….as a well-exercised body and relaxed mind settle into the mat at the end of a practice. It was while in this state of REST and relaxation that I made the decision to write this daily reflection.

REST…simplified
My practice is to isolate myself for one hour daily for REST. Usually between 1 o'clock and 2 o'clock. Breathing deeply, I repeat the words
"God in..............Garbage out" until my mind is clear.
Then I can concentrate on some scripture reading and personal prayers.

My earthly father is no longer here to help me navigate when needed but my Heavenly father is still with me. Sometimes now I feel that I am living in fog and cannot see what’s ahead or where I am going. What will life be like in the future? But I put my trust in Him to help me through the fog and keep me off the crashing rocks.
