"God Is With Us"
The Rev. Robert E. Stevens, Jr.
God is with us; in good times and bad, in ease and in struggle. Though at times we may long for easier days, we can rejoice knowing God is always by our side.
MUSIC
This week we feature a new recording of "Glory Bound" by Ruth Moody of The Wailin' Jennys. This tune has long been a favorite of the Chapel Street Band, and this recording comes from our performance at the Celebration of Life service for Jane Clarke, the beloved grandmother of our own Jennifer McPherson Mulhern on Saturday, May 10.
FROM THE DESK OF ANNE WILLIAMSON
The Spirit of Our Politics: Spiritual Formation and the Renovation of Public Life, by Michael Wear
Wear poses the question 'What kind of person would I like to be?' He reminds those who follow Christ that their first allegiance is not to red or blue or even red, white and blue but to God. Rooted in Jesus' teaching and philosopher Dallas Willard's approach to spiritual formation, Wear emphasizes that 'who we are in our political life is not separate from who we are in our 'real' life', our life as disciples of Jesus.
